A Deeside arts venue has hailed 2013 as one of the busiest years in its two decade long history- seeing 300 events staged since January.
For Banchory’s Woodend Barn there’s been festivals, parties and a slew of top gigs leading to praise in Parliament and a nomination for a top award.
Starting the year with sold out events from Session A9, Scottish Opera and Heidi Talbot, Woodend Barn have put on roughly 300 events since January with sellout performances throughout the year bringing in almost 20,000 people to their events across Deeside.
A phenomenal result for a venue with just 2 full-time staff, 6 part-time staff and a committed team of volunteers.
Nicola Henderson, Director of Woodend Barn said: “2013 has been a bumper year for Woodend Barn! Our programme has been busier than ever with some of the UK and beyond’s most exciting artists treading our boards. We couldn’t have done it without the valued support of our volunteers and everyone who ever comes to an event at the Barn (or across the region as our outreach programme grows), so a great big Thank You! to everyone in Deeside.”
They’re not resting yet though! Woodend Barn has a number of Christmas films lined up this week to get the family in festive spirits, starting with Home Alone on Thursday, December 19 at 7.30pm and then A Muppets Christmas Carol on Sunday, December 22.
There’s also a chance to nip into Buchanans Bistro for a bowlful on Sunday, a rustic casserole served with a glass of house wine for £14.50.
