A vibrant display of original art opens this week at Banchory’s Woodend Barn, showcasing the work of local artists.

‘Expressions in Oil’, a exhibition of works in oil, has been put together by a small group of artists who have, for a number of years, been meeting at the barn to paint under the guidance of local artist Neal Macdonald.

The artists have been challenging themselves to produce original, exciting oil works in a variety of styles.

Lorraine Grant, Director of Woodend Barn said: “It is a real joy to see the range of techniques and approaches that these accomplished local artists are demonstrating in this exhibition.

“From still-life, to portraits, abstracts to landscape works, there is a wonderful variety of oil paintings to experience, each of which has been expertly guided by Neal over the course of his art classes at Woodend Barn.”

Members of the public enjoyed a free opening event with hot soup and scones on Sunday March 15.

It’s a real joy to see the range of techniques.
