Children’s favourite Where’s Wally is back on his travels and is rumoured to be making his way to Royal Deeside this week - if you can find him!
The popular book character, known for his black-rimmed glasses and red and white striped jumper, is set to visit ten different local businesses and organisations.
In celebration of Wally’s longevity and popularity, Walker Books is teaming up with the Booksellers Association’s IndieBound ‘Get Local’ campaign and 100 independent bookshops across the country, including Deeside Books in Ballater, to have fun and encourage people to visit local businesses.
Children in Ballater have been busy searching for Wally in ten local businesses during the past week and a half.
Anyone who wishes to participate can pick up a ‘Find Wally’ search list at Deeside Books, with the names of all the businesses, and collect an ‘I found Wally’ card when they spot Wally.
Collecting cards and handing them in at Deeside Books will win Wally stickers and an entry for other, larger prizes to be drawn at a Where’s Wally? party on Saturday July 26.
Prizes include a copy of Where’s Wally? The Search for Lost Things and a copy of Where’s Wally? The Phenomenal Postcard Book Two.
Join the party on July 26 for activities and prizes from 2:30pm. The prize draw will take place at 3pm.
Wally is the creation of Martin Handford, whose entertaining drawings of crowd scenes swept the world in 1987. Since then, the Where’s Wally? books have held a favourite spot on bookstore shelves worldwide. An entire generation has grown up searching for Wally and his friends Woof, Wenda, Wizard Whitebeard and Odlaw.
