Ballater Films takes an arty twist on Saturday March 7 when its showing of Mr Turner (12A) is accompanied by a small exhibition of works by local artists.

Paintings by postie Linden Hopwood and award-winning Stephanie Vandem will be displayed in the upstairs foyer and landing at the Mike Sheridan Room, Victoria & Albert Halls, Ballater, so film-goers can experience a further bit of culture on their way in to the movie. Some of their works will also be for sale.

Mr Turner stars Timothy Spall and charts the eccentric 19th century painter’s descent into blindness and obscurity. Doors open at 7pm with the show starting at 7.30pm. Cinema snacks including Rizza’s ice cream are available. Tickets cost £5 and are available from Yules newsagent in the village, online at www.ballaterfilms.co.uk and on the door. Accompanied under-12s welcome.
