Golden slippers, ugly sisters and the inevitable shouts of ‘oh yes it is!’ will be some of the main sights and sounds of this year’s Braemar pantomime.
Producer John Mcapherson’s 21st village panto will mark a return to it’s roots with this year’s show ‘Cinderella’ being the very first John produced for Braemar School PTA back in 1993.
After avoiding any duplication in the Christmas panto for over two decades, this is the first time the former BBC producer will be ‘telling the same story’.
John told the Piper: “It seemed appropriate this year to revisit our first show, and I am delighted that one of the cast from 1993 is back with us for the 2013 version. With a cast drawn from Braemar and Crathie this is going to be a real old fashioned family panto with all the elements you would expect, a perhaps a few you won’t!
John, who produced the popular BBC series the Beechgrove Garden for 12 years, said: “The original request was for me to ‘give a hand’ with the panto and I’ve found I’ve done it every year since! I had never done theatre before so it was a new area for me.
“We always had the ambition to never tell the same story twice but it got harder to come up with original shows, you start with the obvious ones and then have to search...”
