The organisers of a Deeside bonfire night display are hoping this year’s festivities can go off with a bang and are appealing for local sponsors.
A regular fixture on the Banchory calendar, this year’s bonfire celebrations will be held on Saturday, November 2 at King George V park.
For over 26 years the Banchory and District Round Table have organised the display.
This event although free to attend, encourages the local community to take part, enjoy the evening and then contribute to a charity fund.
This source of funding is then managed by the Banchory and District Round Table to help local good causes and charities.
Last year saw a record 8,000 attend and raise £8,000 for good causes.
Now the group are seeking local sponsors to make sure even more cash goes to charity.
Graham Ling of the Banchory and District Round Table said: “Last year’s event was the most successful to date thanks largely to the level of sponsorship we received from local businesses... However, as years have gone on, people’s expectations of such an event, along with an increase in costs to effectively manage health and safety has meant the fireworks display has been sub contracted to a local company, expert in such displays. In order to ensure that the cost of the fireworks (in excess of £3500) do not take away from the valuable donations from the visiting public, we are keen to meet much of this cost through sponsorship from local businesses. In recognition of the support we have received from local businesses, we are happy for sponsors to provide banners to publicise their support on the night,”
