With Banchory’s first winter beer festival just round the corner, the organisers have announced the line-up, both musical and alcoholic!

Starting off the weekend event with a Friday session on February 6 will be local Aberdeen solo artists Yogi McGregor and Anna Leyden.

Festival co-founder Mungo Finlayson said: “I’ve always wanted to support young and upcoming bands.

“We as a festival have always wanted to try and keep things local and support what talent the local area has.

“We had some fantastic music at our summer festival and hope what we’ve lined up for Beer @ the Barn isn’t going to disappoint. Over the three festival sessions we’ve got a brilliant mix of music.”

Headlining the Friday night session will be the up and coming Scottish folkists, The Mad Ferret Band.

Mungo added: “Having seen them three times over the last few years, I knew they would be a great addition to a beer festival and they’ll guarantee you to get your dancing shoes on!”

Saturday afternoon consists of Banchory band A Grim Trim, and Cat Ellis, Dylan Folwie and Sam Geddes all who are local to Aberdeen.

The afternoon set will be finished off by local comedian Andrew Sim, who has done his time on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe circuit.

Saturday evening will see three great bands - Victoria Sponge, LOKI and Heidrum - perform in front of festivalgoers.

As well as the extensive musical line-up, the festival organisers have announced the all-important drinks selection.

Co-founder Mungo said: “In terms of drinks selection we will be featuring five gins from Warner Edwards, Old Raj and SW4. Beers from breweries Alechemy, Barney’s, Eden Brewery, Speyside Craft Brewery and Six Degrees North.

“Our most exciting addition for Beer @ the Barn is the six different ranges of cider that have never been seen in Scotland before!”

Beer @ the Barn will take place at Banchory’s Woodend Barn on Friday February 6 and Saturday February 7.

Tickets for the event cost £10 plus a booking fee of £1.25, and are available to buy for all three sessions online at www.eventbrite.co.uk.
