The Red Hot Chilli Pipers are set to headline this year’s Pipes in the Park event, which will see performances from Deeside and Donside bands.
An afternoon and evening of free musical entertainment, Pipes in the Park is part of Huntly & District Pipe Band’s ‘Homecoming’ celebration.
Well known acts including the Chilli Pipers and The Donnie Munro Band are set to take top the stage, along with a number of local pipe bands.
Donnie of The Donnie Munro Band is formerly of popular group Runrig.
The two headliners are expected to attract crowds from across the North east to the event in Huntly on August 30.
The event takes place on The Gordon Schools playing fields adjacent to Huntly Castle.
At 1pm, 10 pipe bands from the area will march through Huntly to the castle.
The participating bands include Ballater & District Pipe Band and Lonach Pipe Band, representing Deeside and Donside at the event.
There is entertainment scheduled throughout the afternoon until 8pm, with popular local bands also set to perform.
Those taking to the stage include The Scandal from Huntly, Tour Bus Fortune of Morayshire (ex SpeyFest), and Donside fiddler Paul Anderson, with his wife Shona on vocals. The list of performers is topped off by The New Distillery Ceilidh Band.
Local drama and dance groups will also entertain the crowds.
There will be various stalls and catering outlets at the venue. The local Ex-Serviceman’s Club will operate a bar (ID required).
The event offers a big platform for local pipe bands and they are all delighted to be part of such a big event. Being on the same bill as The Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Donnie Munro is a great accolade for all involved.
The Red Hot Chilli Pipers wowed audiences earlier this year with their performance at the Echt Show.
Pipes in the Park is financially supported by the Local Wind Farm Trust Fund, Aberdeenshire Council and Lottery Funding.
The local business community is also fully behind the packed programme which holds something for everybody. They have generously supported the organisers through sponsorship of the various acts.
