A music venue in Cults is to celebrate its 50th concert by holding a special recital by pianist Joseph Long, on Saturday, March 21. The ‘Music in the Sanctuary’ series of performances in Cults Parish Church began when, in 2010, a member of the congregation presented the church with a grand piano in memory of his wife. Since then, the range of music at the concerts has covered everything from classical, to light, to folk music, with musicians including both singers and instrumentalists.

Fittingly, the very fine grand piano presented to the church will be played on the evening of March 21 by one of Scotland’s finest concert pianists, Joseph Long, who will give a Chopin recital. Joseph has broadcast and recorded widely and given recitals worldwide. Now resident in Muchals, Aberdeenshire, he also maintains a keen interest in musical education, currently teaching advanced piano studies at both the North East of Scotland Music School and the University of Aberdeen.

Saturday’s performance will begin at 7pm, tickets cost £6 (£5 conc) available at the door, and refreshments will be available after the concert.
