Robert Gordon College’s senior school production of Calamity Jane is hitting the stage this week with Deeside pupils making up the lead cast.

The show finishes its run tomorrow ( Friday), and tickets have been a sell-out for some performances.

Deeside resident Katrina Harris , S6, plays the title role. Calamity Jane is the Wild West tale and nickname of Martha Jane Cannary who was a frontierswomen in the 1800s. Her renowned kindness and compassion towards the sick and injured aligns with the 260-year-old values of Robert Gordon, the college’s founder, that remain integral to the school today.

Bieldside’s Sarah Laing, S6, takes to the stage as Katie Brown, while Elise Cranfield of Milltimber shares the role.

Head of drama, Andrew Milarvie, and head of music, Kevin Haggart, have been heavily involved in the production and impressed by the teamwork and enthusiasm from all involved.

Mr Milarvie, show director, said: “By bringing our artistic, musical and technical stage craft together we have created a musical extravaganza to tap your feet and sing along to. Everyone enjoyed creating the Wild West atmosphere using the costumes, lighting, set design and music to bring the production alive.”

The school’s performance of Calamity Jane starts at 7.30pm each night with tickets at £12 for adults and £10 for concessions.

Tickets can be purchased from Aberdeen Performing Arts.
