Banchory was treated to another fabulous pantomime last week when ‘Snow White and the Seven Drawfs’ came to town.

The cast donned their colourful costumes for several packed performances in the Town Hall.

BADCo, (Banchory Amateur Dramatic Company) were in superb form this year, with a glittering cast and crew full of infectious enthusiasm and considerable talent.

Mike Reilly directed the Banchory Panto for the 11th time, his experience shining through to create a truly memorable and enjoyable show.

As producer, Victoria Waddell’s attention to detail was evident, although she also triumphed by taking an acting role too.

Drew Young (playing The Woodcutter) wrote a sparkling script specifically tailored to tickle local funny bones and goad the audience into participating wherever possible.

The cast demonstrated superb stage presence and admirable acting talent.

Helena Grieve’s debut performance was extremely convincing as Snow White, while Gemma Keith made a delightful partner as Principal Boy.

Iain Bovaird was a splendidly malicious Baron Scowell, Graham Ling a hilarious Elvis-like King, Joel Pierce a first class Queen d”Rella, with Laura Smith a most convincing Sin d”Rella.

Tracey Lethaby and Angie Walker were a splendid double-act while Margo Carnegie not only played a terrific Dame Curry T-Takaway, but organised fantastic costumes too.

With the Snow White story-line radically adapted to tell the tale of a singing competition, there was plenty of opportunity for the cast to burst into song.

This they did with gusto, flair, and a delightful dose of cheek.

With a real sense of fun, good acting, fantastic costumes and a beautifully designed set, the result was a truly entertaining event.

The proceeds from this year’s Banchory Pantomime were impressive.

And, as a result, £500 will be donated to three local charities - Magpie, Forget-Me-Not and The Banchory Sports Village.

The proceeds from the raffle, which totalled £1900, will go to the Guides.
