A new local business support initiative has been launched in Banchory.
The Best of Banchory Card has been set up by Jules Grieve and Liam Hutcheon - two young entrepreneurs who both grew up in the town and are home for summer from university.
They noticed the number of empty shops in High Street and decided to set up a new project with the aim of encouraging local people to support local businesses.
The pair explained: “The whole idea is that each business involved offers an exclusive discount to holders of the Best of Banchory discount card to push customers in Banchory to use local services and establishments.
“In return, the business receives free advertisement as we sell the card, as well as the card driving more customers into your business, which would hopefully result in more returning customers.
“Each participating business will also be given a Best of Banchory sticker to put in their front window to show passers-by that you are part of the initiative therefore encouraging more walk-in customers.”
The card can be bought by customers for £10 and is being sold through many of the participating businesses, at the local farmers markets, the Banchory Show, online, and at the Banchory Beer Festival.
It is valid from the beginning of July to the end of December as a trial period, and 27 local businesses are currently taking part. For more details visit www.bestofbanchory.co.uk
