Based in the Aboyne Castle Business Centre, Aberdeenshire Bicycle Works will soon open its doors to welcome cycling and outdoor fans.

The new shop is already open by appointment for bike servicing, while retail space is being refurbished to soon offer bike sales as well as well as cycling and camping accessories. The bicycle workshop is fully operational offering a range of repair and bike build services with expert bike mechanics.

Aberdeenshire Bicycle Works are part of the Cycle Repair Scheme, a government initiative that offers a free £50 voucher towards bike service or repair. The popular repair scheme backed by Cycling UK has a limited number of slots available. It aims to help those struggling with the costs of essential bike repairs with people encouraged to cycle for their everyday journeys as lockdown eases.

Owned by local husband and wife team, Richard and Alex Lawes, the business will further cement Aberdeenshire’s reputation as a leading cycling destination and offer vital bike repairs to local people who want to get out on two wheels.

The team have adapted their business as Covid-19 took effect. The nationwide increase in cycling since lockdown, and local demand for cycle repair, was an opportunity they hope will see their business flourish.
