New owner, Eileen Haywood, thanks to a £450,000 finance package from Santander Corporate and Commercial, is set to begin renovation work on the Deeside spot.

Ms Haywood has over ten years’ experience in the hospitality sector and, in addition to the Boat Inn, owns and operates a holiday cottage letting business which includes the popular Bothy at Collonach in Deeside.

The hotel has a high reputation in the community and further afield.

Situated on the banks of the Dee, its restaurant attracts visits from both locals and Aboyne’s important tourist trade and it was awarded a presitgeous ‘Taste of Scotland’ award.

With six en-suite bedrooms the hotel is also an important aspect.

Tourist recommendation website Tripadvisor.com gives the spot four and a half out of a possible five stars and reviews from visitors are nearly entirely positive.

Eileen Haywood, Owner of the The Boat Inn, said she was “delighted” to take on the Inn: “I am delighted to have purchased The Boat Inn and am excited by the opportunities this opens up. This is a beautiful region and, with popular activities such as hunting, fishing, hill walking and skiing available nearby, it is the ideal location for a beautiful country hotel. I am looking forward to giving the hotel some of its own character, and raising the standards and profile of the accommodation to match that of the restaurant.”

Jenny Moultrie, Relationship Director for Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: “We are proud to have supported Eileen with this purchase... Eileen is a very astute business woman with exciting plans...”
