Ruaridh Fyfe decided to give money he received at his recent fifth birthday party to the foodbank in the town.

The Banchory Primary School pupil’s friends were asked to bring a small sum of money towards a present and for a charity donation.

Ruaridh gave his contribution to foodbank volunteer George Montgomery.

A spokesperson said: “Ruaridh ended up with a nice present of his choice, and he decided to give the balance to the Aberdeenshire South Foodbank, which is based in Banchory.

“It was very kind of him.”

The foodbank’s main location is in Banchory West Church in High Street.
