At their recent meeting, Alford & District Rotary Club the members enjoyed an interesting talk by Emma Slessor of The Archie Foundation.
Emma told of the ambitious plans the Foundation has for the refurbishment of the children’s hospital in its tenth year.
Using excellent artist’s impressions of the various parts they intend to change which will clearly improve both the outside and inside and make it a much more welcoming and attractive place for the children who have to visit.
She also talked about the work The Archie Foundation has done at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness and now at Ninewells, Dundee.
After her talk President Ronnie Sampson presented her with a cheque for £1125 being the proceeds of the club’s annual duck race.
Normally the charity receives a cheque for £1000 but on this occasion the first and third ducks to reach the end of the race were dedicated to Archie and so their prizes were added.
Spectators enjoyed meeting the club’s ‘Duck Mascot’ at the race earlier this year.
