Tarland artist Mary Welfare will be exhibiting recent work in a joint show with Ruth Simpson at the Arts Centre in Monymusk from July 20 to August 2.
Mary said: “I am delighted to have been invited to exhibit by Monymusk Arts Trust.
“I paint mainly in acrylic, usually landscapes, getting my ideas from the beautiful Howe of Cromar where I live. My style is semi-abstract, but visitors may recognise some familiar scenes.”
Most of Ruth Simpson’s work is created using textiles, usually with backgrounds painted onto the fabric with diluted acrylic paint, then machine and hand embroidered on top to create texture.
Inspiration is taken from the area.
Ruth, who lives near Monymusk, said: ”As a keen gardener and walker I am inspired by the surrounding land and seascapes and by the natural world of plants, trees and flowers.”
The exhibition is open daily between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Entry is free.
