Entry is £1 per person per visit, and each garden will display balloons at the entrance for ease of identification.

All profits made over the weekend will be donated to local good causes.

A spokesperson for Banchory Horticultural Society said: “We are very grateful to the gardeners for taking part.

‘‘ It is always fascinating to see how varied the local gardens are and how much effort is put in to looking after them.

“Although we are called a horticultural society, we are not terribly cultural and certainly not haughty. We always welcome new members!”

The full weekend programme is available from Raemoir Garden Centre, Banchory Library and Banchory Tourist office.
