One of the most exciting things about turning 17 is being able to learn to drive and getting a driving licence.
Deeside Activity Park, at Dess, near Aboyne, is giving 12–16 year olds the chance to get a unique driving experience and gain their Deeside Driving Licence on Saturdays in January, February or March.
“We wanted to offer something different and know how popular our driving activities are, especially with this age group, so this was a great package to put together,” said Fiona McIver, from sales and marketing at the park. “The sessions will be a choice of three activities from kart racing, quad biking, 4x4 and our groundhog, and will be one-hour long.”
The cost is £40 per person with a maximum of three per group. Once they have passed the test ensuring they can safely drive the three vehicles, they will be issued with their Deeside Driving Licence which will be valid for 12 months and can be used to gain discounts for future bookings at the park.
“It’s all a bit of fun and our instructors will give out endorsements on the licences for any bad track behaviour, just like a normal licence,” said Peter Wallace, head instructor.
The package starts from Saturday (January 8) and runs every Saturday to the end of March. Booking is recommended. For more information, or to book sessions, call Fiona McIver on (013398) 83536.
