A rainbow of Celtic music

Woodend Barn in Banchory is bringing together diverse examples of the rainbow of Celtic music.

The band Lau has a forthcoming gig at the Barn at 8pm on Saturday (May 14). They are triple winners of BBC Radio 2’s Folk Awards for ʻBest Groupʼ and Scots Trad Music Awards’ Best Live Actʼ of 2009.

At 8pm on Thursday, May 19, fiddler Duncan Chisholm will be accompanied by Tony Byrne on guitar and Allan Henderson on fiddle and piano, to create the natural flow that makes Duncan’s music so unique, switching fluidly between jubilant jigs, excited reels and sublime lyricism.

On Friday, June 3 at 8pm, Salsa Celtica perform with a smaller than usual line up to present the Small Islands Sessions. Featuring music which combines the traditions of Gaelic, Afro Cuban and African song with an acoustic roots feel, this is a great chance to experience a more intimate evening with the band. Tickets can be obtained from Woodend Barn Box Office on (01330) 825431.
