Alford public hall to see majority of Marr meetings

The vast majority of upcoming meetings for Aberdeenshire Council’s Marr Area Committee are set to be taking place in Alford Public Hall.

The committee meets monthly to discuss council business across Marr which affects around 34,000 people.

Six of the nine meetings listed on the Aberdeenshire Council website are scheduled to take place in Alford Public Hall.

Marr committee covers a vast geographic area and councillors from the wards of Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside, Banchory and Mid-Deeside and Huntly, Strathbogie and Howe of Alford sit on it.

Marr Area Manager Leslie Allan said: “Marr Area Committee covers one of the largest geographical areas in Aberdeenshire, almost 47% of the Aberdeenshire total.

“Marr Area Committee is the only committee that regularly travels and conducts meetings out with council buildings and committee rooms. Thiscommittee goes out to where the people are and in the summer months holdsmeetings across the area from Braemar to Huntly.

“It is the discretion of the Area Committee to choose the location fortheir meetings and during the winter months Alford is chosen as the most easily accessible location in Marr for the public, council and officers.”
