Alford star Emeli Sande is to open the spectacular finale of the London Olympics.
The closing ceremony show, titled A Symphony of British Music, will see dozens of artists singing their hits.
And the former Alford Academy pupil has been chosen by organisers for the prestige opening slot where she will sing her hit Read All About It.
Also on the bill is former Eurythmics star Annie Lennox, from Aberdeen.
The show will span decades of British music from The Who and Queen to Tinie Tempah and One Direction.
The Who are scheduled to close the show while ballerina Darcey Bussell and 300 dancers from the Royal Ballet will perform The Spirit of the Flame as the Olympic flame is put out.
The show is still being finalised and London 2012 organisers stressed the set list was subject to change.
