Councillors have voted to approve the change of use of a former Deeside hotel into a hot food take-away.
Applicant Ms Xiao Ying He of Banchory was given permission to open the new shop at the category C listed Gordon Arms Hotel in Kincardine O’Neil.
The proposal attracted four letters of representation prompting the debate at the Marr Area Committee meeting in Strathdon.
Issues raised included possible increased traffic and a loss of amenity in a residential area.
Banchory and Mid-Deeside councillors Linda Clark and Provost Jill Webster requested that the application be discussed at the meeting.
Speaking after the meeting Cllr Linda Clark said she had had some concerns about the smell of the restaurant: “We were given assurances that it won’t be intrusive. I had concerns about the smell coming from the site having a negative impact.”
