Attempted theft of car in Drumoak

Police Scotland is again reminding vehicle owners not to leave their vehicles unattended to defrost windows following an attempted theft of a car in Drumoak.

Officers are investigating the attempted theft of a Vauxhall Zafira from the Keithmuir area of Drumoak, Aberdeenshire which occurred at around 6.40am on Tuesday 19 January 2016.

A male suspect ran off from the vehicle towards the A93 and is described as wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap.

Officers are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the vicinity at this time.

Sergeant McHattie of the Kincardine and Mearns Community Policing Team said: “We are reminding vehicle owners to be aware that opportunistic thieves are around and even leaving your vehicle unattended for a few seconds gives thieves the chance to steal your vehicle.

“Whilst very tempting to leave your vehicle unattended, even for a short space of time, our advice is to not risk it.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
