Banchory Lodge was sold by well known North-east hotelier Margaret Jaffrey, who has owned the hotel since 1966.
New owners of the hotel Place D’or 707 Limited have purchased the hotel where its directors Wilson Anderson and Carol Fowler will be at the helm. They already own the successful Dunavon Hotel in Dyce.
Margaret Jaffrey said: “I bought the hotel in 1966 with my late husband Dugald and together we built up the hotel not only as a popular hotel for the folk of the North-east but as a fishing hotel where we gathered repeat business from throughout the world. Obviously it will be a wrench to leave the hotel which has not only been an excellent business but a home to myself and my family.
“I am delighted that experienced operators such as Carol and Wilson have ended up as the eventual purchasers and there is absolutely no doubt that they will take the hotel from strength to strength.”
New co-owner Carol Fowler said: “Having been in the local hotel industry for over 20 years, we have been in love with the property for many years and to be handed the keys by Mrs Jaffrey is really a dream come true.”
Carol’s business partner Wilson Anderson added: “Margaret Jaffrey has been hugely successful running the Lodge and I very much plan to continue her personal attention to guests and be very hands on in running this important new acquisition for us”.
