A sale held in Banchory last week has raised a four-figure sum that will go into the Ballater Charitable Chiels fund for victims of the flood.
The bring and buy sale was hosted by councillors Linda and Graeme Clark on Saturday, January 9 in the West Church.
New goods and home bakes were sold to raise funds and many financial donations were made alongside this by the attending crowds.
Linda said: “Our thanks go to all who attended on the day, the men and women who stood on the stalls and to the Friday coffee ladies who did us all proud by serving their usual array of fine pieces to go with the tea and coffee.
“The money raised will go to the Ballater Chiels fund which will do practical work for the many who are suffering.”
The £1,496 will go into the Charitable Chiels’ Crowdfunding page, set up in the wake of the disaster to help Ballater and the surrounding communities which have been ravaged by the flood.
The Chiels’ original target of raising £3,000 has been smashed by the generosity of spirit shown towards the flood-ravaged communities. The fund so far sits at £26,600, a staggering 901 percent of the original target.
The Chiels have already started handing out cheques to flood victims.
