Members of Kincardine and Deeside Befriending are very grateful to people from Deeside, Kincardine and Mearns who responded to their Christmas Appeal. So far the appeal has raised £2,500.
The Spar team in Stonehaven raised £1,000 by nominating the charity as a beneficiary of their carry bag initiative, Banchory and District Round Table donated £500, the Friends of K&D Befriending £250 and students from Banchory Academy raised £230 from selling biscuits and confectionary plus many donations from individual supporters and well wishers who want to help old folk.
This money will be used to sustain the extra 20 places the charity created last year in response to the ever increasing demand from old people for companionship.
Kincardine and Deeside Befriending chairperson Jessa Stevenson said: “The level of support shown from the public and volunteers towards reducing loneliness in old people is very reassuring.
“We rely on donations for the public to keep this very much needed service going. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has made a contribution.”
Anyone else wanting to support this worthwhile project should send a cheque payable to Kincardine and Deeside Befriending to their office in the Town Hall, Banchory AB31 5NA (Tel. 01330 823368 or 07816 958839) or to the office at 42-46 Barclay Street, Stonehaven AB39 2FX (Tel. 01569 765714).
