Bowling club broken into

Banchory Bowling Club’s clubhouse was broken into by thieves, who stole £400 worth of items.

The incident happened between 4.30pm on Thursday, March 22, and 2.45pm on Sunday, March 25, according to Grampian Police.

A Grampian Police spokesman said: “There was about £400 worth of goods taken - mainly kitchen equipment - including a microwave, crockery, flasks and a soup pan. “Nobody has been traced in connection with this and inquiries are ongoing.”

He said there was no value to the damage caused at the clubhouse, in Dee Street.

Club secretary John Abernethy, said he believed the thieves had entered through the skylight. “I think the police have now been all round the place gathering evidence,” he said, adding that trophies and historical items were removed by the club for safekeeping over the winter.
