Saturday saw the official opening of ‘The Bread of Life’ in the old Baker’s Shop on Craigour Road in Torphins by Mid Deeside Church.

The new charity shop was opened by local minister, the Rev Alec Wark.

‘The Bread of Life’ keeps alive the memory of the former Baker’s Shop.

Mr Wark cut the ribbon across the doorway and thanked all who had donated goods to the shop so far.

He also paid tribute to the hard work of the volunteer team who are running the premises and expressed the hope that the shop will prove a valuable asset to all who live in the Mid Deeside parish.

At the moment, it will be open on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 10am until 3pm, and on Saturdays from 10am until 2pm.

Items for sale include adult clothing and shoes, children’s clothing, toys and games, books, DVDs and CDs, accessories and smaller electrical goods. Donations welcome.

The shop will promote the charitable, community, outreach and mission work of the church in Mid Deeside Parish.

Initially, the net proceeds of the shop will be allocated to the funding of the church extension project (if required for this purpose), but all net proceeds after this will be allocated to the outreach work of the church, including donations to other charities, as agreed by the Kirk Session from time to time.
