North-east Conservative MSP, Nanette Milne, has written to SNP Transport Minister, Keith Brown calling on the SNP Scottish Government to bring forward work for the AWPR junction on the A96 at Craibstone to address the “notorious bottle neck and accident blackspot”.

Dr Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North-east said: “This junction has been in desperate need of upgrading for many years.

The junction is heavily used by commuters as well as airport traffic.

“At peak time the junction becomes highly dangerous with cars merging onto a 70 mph cross roads with traffic crossing the busy A96 from both Dyce and Kingswells direction.

“This stretch of the A96 has also witnessed a number of accidents in recent year a situation which needs to be addressed urgently.

“With the current AWPR still being delayed in the courts I believe it is important for investment in the road infrastructure to progress and hope that SNP Ministers will give the green light for work on the grade separate junctions to commence now as preparatory work for these has already taken place.”
