Deeside and Donside residents are finally to benefit from high-speed fibre internet according to a list published this week.
More than 7300 homes and business in Aberdeenshire will be next to receive fibre broadband in the latest phase of the £410 million Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband programme.
Aboyne, Alford, Banchory, Kildrummy and Torphins have been announced as the areas for deployment of high-speed fibre broadband, with the first premises expected to benefit from speeds of up to 80Mbps1 in spring 2015.
The new infrastructure will enable multiple users to access the internet and download and share large files at the same time and more quickly than ever before, if they sign up to the service.
Cllr Katrina Farquhar said: “I am delighted with the latest announcement from Digital Scotland announcing more villages in Aberdeenshire to get high speed fibre Broadband.
Newmachar, Newtonhill and Auchenblae will also benefit early next year.
