The Chief Executive of Aberdeenshire Council, Colin Mackenzie, has this week announced his retirement from the position.
Mr Mackenzie was appointed chief executive of the local authority in 2008 and formerly held the position of director of housing and social work.
Cllr. Geva Blackett wished him all the best following his announcement on Monday, September 1.
She said: “Colin has worked for the council for 33 years.
‘‘I would like to publicly wish him well for many years of happy retirement and to thank him for all he has done.”
During his time as chief executive, Mr Mackenzie has transformed how the council engages with residents, going into communities to ask what they would do if they were in his shoes, and using that information to help set future priorities for the council.
Mr Mackenzie said: “I believe that now is the right time for someone else to lead and shape the council as it moves into the challenging phase of continuing to deliver excellent local services within an era of significant financial constraint.
“I am very confident that we are in an excellent position to manage these challenges positively, both locally and nationally.”
