West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine Conservative MP Andrew Bowie has congratulated several local businesses named as finalists in a national competition for the tourism sector.
The Scottish Thistle Awards are held annually to recognise the best in the industry.
Deeside Activity Park in Aboyne was shortlisted in the Best Outdoor/Adventure Experience category.
Lys-Na-Greyne, also in Abyone, was named in the Bruce Stevenson Insurance Brokers Most Hospitable B&B/Guest House category.
Colin Gunn from the Holiday Inn Westhill was also recognised in the Tourism and Hospitality category.
All of the finalists came through regional finals, which were split into Central Fife and Tayside, Lothian and Borders, the West, the Highlands and Islands and Aberdeen City and Shire. Regional winners are representing their area at the national finals in Edinburgh.
Mr Bowie said: “I am delighted to see local businesses being recognised for the great work they do.
“These awards celebrate the best that the tourism industry has to offer, and there are no shortage of deserving companies and individuals in West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine.
“Tourism has always been a vital part of the local economy in this area, and it will be even more important in the future as the North Sea oil and gas sector eventually winds down.
“I wish all the finalists the best of luck in the final and congratulate them on their success so far.”
