North East Liberal Democrat MSP Mike Rumbles enjoyed a taster on a behind-the-scenes visit to specialist gin and absinthe producers Lost Loch Distillery on Deeside.
Meeting co-owner of the distillery, Peter Dignan, Mr Rumbles welcomed the contribution craft distilling makes to the local economy and the importance of supporting local businesses.
Lost Loch Distillery, on the eastern shore of the ‘lost’ Loch Auchlossan, is self-sufficient and capable of outputting 80,000 bottles per year.
The MSP said later: “The distillery is in a perfect location, nestled between forest and farmland on the side of the Dee. Specialist, high quality producers, like Lost Loch, are at the heart of why our spirits industry, in Scotland, does so well.
“It is really encouraging to see a local Aberdeenshire business that is making the most of the boom in new and interesting spirits.
“Peter and his team should be congratulated on building an innovative and exciting new business for the North-east and I look forward to seeing them develop and contribute to the local economy in the years to come.”
