Banchory’s newest store has opened its doors.
Fashion and footwear retailer Wilkies began trading last Friday in the former SSE premises in High Street.
A lengthy queue formed outside the store in anticipation of the grand opening.
The ribbon-cutting was performed by managing director Karen Forret and her three-year-old daughter.
Karen said: “We are delighted to officially be a Banchory resident after opening our doors to customers.
“Our Banchory team look forward to meeting many more new customers in store.
“We would like to add a special thank you to the local businesses of Banchory who have also been very welcoming. We are excited to be a part of this great community.”
The new trader is a welcome boost for the town centre which has seen a number of businesses close down in recent years.
Six jobs will be created by the opening of the shop.
Wilkies - one of Scotland’s oldest family-run department stores - is expanding and this is the company’s 15th outlet.
It is the second in Deeside - the firm already operates one in Ballater - and stocks leading brand names in ladies’ fashion and footwear.
