Tor-Na-Coille treat enterprising pupils

A prestigious Deeside hotel has congratulated hardworking pupils at Banchory Academy for taking part in an Enterprise Project.

S2 pupils from the school spent six weeks on the project in conjunction with the local Tor-Na-Coille Hotel.

The group were divided into four parts, where some covered mood boards for bedroom decor, a Press advert, a hotel brochure and a starter course, which could be served in the hotel in the future.

Last week, to celebrate their hard work and as a sign of appreciation, the hotel invited all the winners from all categories to the hotel for a celebratory lunch.

As part of the meal, the pupils were treated to the winning starter created by Erin Geddes and Jack Cruickshank.

The dish was salmon, on a tattie rosti, with a herb dressing and quails egg- which went down a storm with deputy rector Colin Nicol, judges Ewan Kirkpatrick of Drumtochty Castle, and Logan Sangster of Deeside Photographics, who were also involved in the project at the Academy.

Now the starter created by these young kitchen hotshots will be served at the hotel over the next two weeks. The advert featured in the Piper this week.

Logan said: “The Academy thanked the chefs, hotel staff and all involved in this very beneficial project, and say they are looking forward to the 2015 challenge.”
