Braemar Castle will be in the pink with a Fashion Show and style stalls on Sunday, August 21, celebrating the castle’s connections to high fashion and the surrealist designer Elsa Schiaparelli’s trademark colour pink.
Visitors wearing pink on Schiaparelli day will enjoy 10% off castle admission as well as strawberries and cream in the courtyard. There will also be stalls by local artists and glitter face painting from 12pm to 4pm.
The day will culminate in the evening with a very special fun fashion show raising money for both the castle restoration and Breast Cancer care.
Schiaparelli’s friendship with the late Mrs Frances Farquharson of Invercauld brought the designer to Braemar in the fifties. Mrs Farquharson was inspired to paint many buildings on Invercauld Estate in Shiaparelli’s signature colour and a number of rooms inside the Castle are still painted bright pink.
Organiser Mollie Brockie says: “Models will strut their stuff in the very latest in nearly new, hand-made and fashion through the ages, not from the catwalks of Milan or Paris, but from the charity shops of Royal Deeside!
"If you have an outfit you’d like to show off, or contribute for one of the models to wear, please get in touch, all shapes, sizes, ages welcome.”
The fashion show begins at 7pm and tickets are £5 to include a mocktail. If you’d like to transform it into a cocktail please BYOB. As well as the fashion show, there will be live music and baked goodies on sale.
