Charity floats hope for flooding victims

Thousands of pounds was raised at a fundraising event to help those that were affected by flooding in the Deeside area.

A disco, auction and raffle was held on Saturday, January 30 and raised an impressive £4480.26.

The Trustees of the Victory Hall gave charity Hope Floats their venue for free.

A meal was provided for free by Adriana’s Grill and staff gave up their time to work at the event.

Lighting was also donated by Donald Munro, who put on a ‘spectacular display’.

Among the items up for auction and to be won through raffle were prints and from Milton Art Gallery and other local artists.

And Emmerdale star Chris Chittell, who plays Eric Pollard, donated a tour of the set.

The auction was conducted by Allan Taylor.

Event organiser Ann Madden, said: “Many thanks to Strachans who sold the tickets and the many helpers and donators on the night.

“And thanks to Jennifer Butler-Madden, who sourced the fantastic large donations and of course the people who attended the dance and helped make such an amazing evening.”
