CVS Aberdeenshire central and south, the council for voluntary services is looking to build on the success of the popular Boxroom and Magpie operations in Tillybrake Industrial Estate in Banchory.

The Boxroom in particular, and in recent times the Magpie has become part of the Banchory community and both units are well known for selling good second hand household items.

The success of the Boxroom and the Magpie has been a direct result of the partnership between the staff, volunteers and the people of Banchory and surrounding areas.

David Wood, Business Development Manager for CVS Aberdeenshire central and south, said: “We are delighted with the progress we have made and we are now looking to build on that success and provide an even better and improved offer to the local community.

Volunteers and donations from the community have been the cornerstones of our operation over the years and we are most grateful for all the support we have received.”

Magpie is always looking for donations of furniture and any other household items or bric-a-brac to any of the shops. If these are of good quality then bring these items to Magpie in Tillybrake Estate in Banchory where the team will take these off your hands.

If items are of a larger nature then call Magpie on 01330 823800 and they will arrange to pick up from your home or office. Magpie does not charge to pick up furniture and other items though it does charge for the delivery of large items purchased from their shops.

Another way of donating household items to Magpie is at their Crows Nest site at the Banchory Household Waste Recycling Centre just off the Raemoir road.

The Magpie shops in Tillybrake industrial estate are open from 10am until 4pm Monday through to Saturday. In addition, CVSA and Magpie have their community charity shop in Bridge Street in Banchory and individuals can donate smaller items and clothing to the shop there. Due to space limitations they cannot accept larger items in the charity shop.

Magpie provides furniture and other items fee of charge to special cases that are identified through their social and other contacts.

Magpie is always looking to recruit volunteers and anyone interested should call David Wood on 01330 825027 or Renee Joss on 01330 823800 or email
