A total of 18 entries turned out last month for Banchory Rotary Clubs’s annual young Musician Competition at Woodend Barn.

The acts were made up of nine voice contestants and nine instrumentalists.

A huge audience of over 250 were also in attendance to enjoy all the performances on the evening.

The winning entrants were Anna Barton singing “Only the Good Die Young” and Finn Stevenson-Robb on piano playing “Waltz in A Minor”.

Anna and Finn will now move forward to compete at the North of Scotland District Final in Perth on Saturday, February 27.

Runners-up were Cameron Wilson singing “Someone Like You” and Gemma Keith playing “Nuovo Bianche”.

Banchory Rotary Club member Ryan Bond told the Piper: “Banchory Rotary’s Young Musicians competition just gets better and better every year.

“We wish the winning contestants (Anna Barton and Finn Stevenson-Robb) well at the district final.

“Thanks are due to all the contestants who took part and to all who contributed to the success of the evening.”
