Council carers set for marathon effort

A team from Aberdeenshire Council will be taking part in a marathon walking effort to raise money for charity.

The Blister Sisters, a team of seven, all work in the Children’s Services Social Work department and will be taking part in the Aberdeen and Deeside Kilt Walk on Sunday (September 15).

Claire Will, Alice Williamson, Linda Sturton, Catriona Masson, Heidi Williamson and Tammy Hutcheson from the Stonehaven Children and Families

Team and Elexes McApline, social work manager, will walk the marathon distance (26 miles) from Duthie Park to Potarch, via Banchory.

There is also the option of the Wee Walk (8miles) but the Blister Sisters are going the full distance!

The Aberdeen and Deeside Kiltwalk 2013 will be the first event of its kind in the Aberdeenshire area, taking inspiration from Edinburgh and Glasgow annual Kiltwalks in recent years. Locals can get involved and raise money for a range of charities, but the event’s partner charity is The ARCHIE Foundation.

The team have nominated half of the funds it raises to the charity HomeStart Kincardine and Deeside.
