Funding has been secured to provide more Qigong classes in Aberdeenshire care homes, including Dalvenie Gardens in Banchory.

Qigong (pronounced ‘Chee Kung’) exercise classes are being run in carehomes across Aberdeenshire after a study found participation helped to improve social interaction and quality of movement.

So far, approximately 300 care home residents and service users have attended the classes run by Aberdeenshire Council’s trained staff.

The funding will allow 26 more staff to train to teach.

The training is done by Carole Milligan of Take A Seat, a programme of adapted T’ai Chi and Qigong movements for those with limited mobility.

Carole has been holding classes atDalvenie Gardens at the Forget-Me-Not Club since 2004.
