A local councillor is set to undertake a two-wheeled challenge in aid of vasculitis charity, The Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation.

Cllr. Katrina Farquhar is taking part in women’s mountain bike cross country race, Ride Like a Grrl, organised by Petal Power Biking.

The race route is a mix of terrains through the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.

Cllr. Farquhar was inspired to take on the challenge by her neighbour.

She said: “Larry Morrison is my neighbour and has vasculitis. He has to travel to Cambridge for treatment and see a vasculitis specialist.

“Very few have heard of this condition, little is known about how it develops and diagnosis is often when it is in an advanced stage.

“This is why I have chosen to fundraise for this particular charity as most readers will associate my fundraising with cancer charities having been diagnosed with breast cancer myself.

‘‘I think more awareness is required of vasculitis and money raised into research and to how it is treated.”
