Crathes housing site given the go ahead

A proposed development by Stuart Milne Homes for 45 new dwellings at Crathes will now go ahead after plans were approved.

The proposals, given the green light last Friday, include 10 affordable homes, associated infrastructure and formation of access on land adjoining the A957.

Factors under consideration following the Reporter’s visit on May 6 included Crathes’ architectural diversity and the potential relationship between the new builds and the existing housing in the community.

The houses will use wet dash render rather than traditional Deeside housebuilding materials, natural stone and timber windows.

The 10 affordable houses, in the form of two terraces, will be located next to the proposed village green.

The council had raised concerns about poor solar gain and the lack of chimneys to facilitate alternative heating, however it has been decided that there are other ways energy efficiency can be achieved.
