Police are on the hunt for a thief or thieves who targeted three houses last week getting away thousands of pounds worth of cash and jewellery.

Three properties in Alford and Inverurie were broken into between 7am and 5.45pm on Thursday, October 3.

Last month, the Piper reported a house-breaking in Banchory’s Raemoir Road in which thieves made off with around £5000 worth of jewellery and the week before more than £30,000 worth of gems were stolen from an address on Watson street.

This was followed by break in’s to properties in Durris a few weeks later, police were “keeping an open mind” on wither or not those incidents were linked.

Police did not confirm if these most recent incidents were also linked.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a number of break-ins.

“As a result, a quantity of jewellery and cash worth a low five-figure sum in total was stolen.

“Officers are urging anybody who may have knowledge of the thefts or may have seen something suspicious in the area at the time to come forward.

“Anybody with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
