Police in Aberdeenshire have sent out a warning to dog owners over sheep worrying.
They have been urged to keep their pets under control near livestock after an incident which led to a lamb being killed in a field near Drumoak. The incident, which occurred around 12:30 pm on Wednesday, August 21, resulted in the dog owner being charged. A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal. Constable Steven McKenzie, of the Kincardine and Mearns Community Policing Team, said: “I would like to remind dog owners that it is their responsibility to keep their pets under control and on a lead around livestock at all times. Please take responsibility for your dogs, and please know where they are. “We may not think our family pets are capable of causing injury, but it is a dog’s natural instinct to chase. “My advice to anyone walking and exercising their dogs in the countryside is to ensure that they are under control at all times and to avoid going into fields where livestock is grazing.”
