Diamond day for Braemar couple


BRAEMAR couple Bill and Jean Bain have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

They were married in London in 1952 when Bill was in the Scots Guards and took part in trouping the colour at Buckingham Palace and elsewhere, Jean was working as a typist.

Bill then worked as a gamekeeper for most of his life and was on Invercauld Estate for 33 years. He was also was also a member of the Braemar Mountain Rescue team for that time.

Bill and Jean have four children, nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Local Councillor Geva Blackett presented them with a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of whisky on behalf of the council and they also had a visit from former councillor Marcus Humphrey, who gave them a card from the Lord Lieutenant and flowers, on behalf of the Queen.
