A Banchory couple - who fell in love when they stayed in neighbouring Suffolk villages - have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Colin and Madge Woodley moved to the North-east from the Lowestoft area in 1974 through his work in oil supply boats.
Colin, 82, said he thought it would be for around four years.
He told the Piper: “I used to travel up and down in a Morris 1100 when I was working in Great Yarmouth.
“We moved here through my work and here we have stayed.”
Madge, 81, said they got to know one another when they lived in the villages of Blundeston and Lound.
And the secret of a long and happy marriage - work things out between you and be tolerant.
The couple, who have a son and daughter and three grand-children, were visited by Deputy Lord Lieutenant Fiona Burnett and local councillor Jill Webster.
They were presented with flowers and a bottle of whisky and received a card from the Queen.
Mr and Mrs Woodley enjoyed a family celebration at Piperdam resort near Dundee.
