A group of Banchory parents are organising a fundraising 1.5k fun run for youngsters later this month.
The event is supported by Hill of Banchory Primary School and organisers say it is a way of celebrating youth sport and doing something with a fun element for the local area.
The fun run will also raise funds for the school and the new Banchory Sports Village, with all proceeds being shared.
Five mums from the Hill of Banchory are behind the event, which will start at noon on Saturday, August 27.
The fun run will be followed by a fun day being held at the school to welcome pupils back from the summer break.
It is hoped that around 250 youngsters from the Hill of Banchory area will take part in the run around paths in the community.
A mini fun run to be held on the astro-turf will be open to nursery age children.
Every child who takes part is set to receive a goodie bag on completion of the run, including a medal and a t-shirt.
Local Olympic snowboarder Ben Kilner will get the event under way and will meet the children afterwards.
One of the organisers, mum-of-two Fiona Melville, said they were delighted that Ben would be attending.
She added: “Everyone has been really supportive so far and we hope it all works out. It’s the first time we have tried anything like this.
“We are seeking financial donations or contributions from local businesses to our grand raffle which will be drawn on the day.
“We would appreciate any support towards the event.”
Ccompanies that have sponsored the fun run so far are The Deesidedly Tasty Company, Sublime Pilates, Deeside Physiotherapy, Safety Grip Solutions Ltd.
Run for It have also donated their race arch and supermarket giants Tesco and Morrisons have contributed to the goodie bags.
