On Monday local MP Sir Robert Smith visited Alford Primary to learn of the book pledges made by P5 pupils as part of Book Week Scotland.
Book Week Scotland is a week-long celebration of books and reading that takes place every November. During Book Week, people of all ages and walks of life come together in libraries, schools, community venues and workplaces to share and enjoy books and reading.
Sir Robert also visited Alford Library to see the wide range of books and services available for Book Week and throughout the year.
Sir Robert said: “Alford Library like other libraries across Aberdeenshire has a wealth of books to choose from and I was impressed at the range of books now available for e-readers and talking books. Book Week Scotland is a great opportunity to highlight the library service which I would encourage people to use all year round. The pupils showed a great enthusiasm for their reading pledges.”
